Drink Locally...
Matt Brewing Company's Saranac beers and Bully Hill Vineyards' wines have become this blogger's drinks of choice, I write, enjoying the latter's Maréchal Foch, a bargoon at under six bucks a bottle.

I try to patronize local breweries as well, though I've never found a local winery I really loved. The Bier Brewery in Indianapolis is my current favorite - small batches with a new lineup every week, gotta go to their taproom to get the beer, so you actually get to meet the guys that brew what you're drinking.
I'm a Brooklyn Brewery fan myself.
Cheers!
Pints, have you had their Black Ops? You may not be able to find it anymore (we grabbed the last from the only beer store my friend new to carry it when I was there in June), but if they brew it again you should definitely pick it up. Good, rich, chocolaty stout. Not Dark Lord but still quite good.
Dauvit,
Thanks for the head's up re: Black Ops. I think I've seen it, but honestly I tend to stay away from chocolaty beers. I prefer strong, hoppy IPAs, so it shouldn't be a surprise that Brooklyn's East IPA is my staple.
Speaking of local breweries in NY (state), as well as IPAs, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company up in Pleasantville makes some great beer as well.
Pints all around, cheers!
