Odd, perhaps dangerous, that the government is using such categories like "Christians." Does that include Catholics as well? Many evangelicals consider themselves and themselves only to be "Christians."
Meanwhile, the Vatican has recently been investigating and considering what alien contact would mean, on its own terms.
I think we know who to trust on this one.
But on a different though related note: if you haven't yet read C. S. Lewis' "Space Trilogy," do so. In order.
The first thing that came to mind when I read this was C.S. Lewis's space trilogy. Where do they find the peopl;e who say this stuff?

They find them among the secular community that knows technical craft, but knows nothing of theology or God. We had a commentator that this on here a while back who would fit in with this bunch perfectly.
The big secret is that these people, who deride the Christian for his worship of God (the "sky god" they call Him), are the very folk who invoke ET in place of God, and would bow on the floor before ETs if they landed here.
