I'm neither a fan nor a Jew, but this is sad news — Matisyahu shaves beard, leaves fans confused. The musician "explained that he once thought he needed rules 'to become a good person,' but said he is now 'reclaiming myself. Trusting my goodness and my divine mission.'"

Sad news indeed. Of course, you do need some rules and beliefs to be a good person. Father Barron touched upon this:

I actually had the opportunity to see Matisyahu live (he was opening for someone else). I was really impressed. It was also nice to see Jewish/Israeli pride that wasn't in the least bit political: a very hard find nowadays.
