That Aggressor Iran

"White stars in red circles denote U.S. military base" — Not a Graphic That Would Appear in the US Media. "Could this be a reason they hate us?"

The last time Iran started a war, let us remember, was "1826 during the 4th Russo-Persian War." The Daily Paul blogger opines, "The US can't even go 2 years, let alone 200 - so which country is really the greater danger to mankind?"

Great map!

But while I share your concern about this, I do wonder if it is fair to say that Iran has been without guilt in starting wars for so long. While perhaps we haven't seen too many all-out total wars declared by their gov't, they do do their own share of meddling in regional affairs in chivalrous ways. Sure, they may be able to justify it to themselves, but I don't think there are any innocent parties over there. Syria & Lebanon come to mind.

And of course, there was that whole Xerxes affair. Has the West ever shaken off the Persian invasion after all these centuries?

Now, why the US is getting into this historical Arab-Persian fight; or Sunni-Shia fight, is beyond me.

A real balance of power would keep the Saudis and Iranians about even.

My advice?

Watch the movie "Syriana", buy oil stocks and ETFs, pour a glass of Chimay (blue label), and hold on for the ride.

Is that for real?

Does the US really have all those military bases in Iran? If so, since when, and why?

What is the source of this map? Is it reliable?

It has all those bases around Iran, and close to a 1000 more around the world.

Of course, none of this is mentioned by either party when it comes to reducing our deficit and balancing our budget.

You ask, "Why?" As Pat Buchanan once said, the US Congress is Israeli occupied territory.
