Franz Kafka's Amerika

"The arm with the sword now reached aloft, and about her figure blew the free winds," we read in the first paragraph of the delightful novel referenced by's John W. Whitehead — Kafka’s America: Secret Courts, Secret Laws, and Total Surveillance. Interestingly this delightful error, if that is what it was, about what the Statue of Liberty carries in her hand is not mentioned in Mr. Whitehead's article.
