Icelandic Peace Officers

William Norman Grigg reports that that country's "police are mourning the unprecedented shooting death of a suspect," while on these shores, "police are scandalized by the unfamiliar spectacle of an officer using non-lethal means to subdue and arrest an emotionally unstable man who appeared to be armed — What's Wrong with Police in Iceland?

Lest you think these decsendants of Vikings are a bunch of pansies, Mr. Grigg notes that "Iceland is not inhospitable to privately owner firearms[;] it is ranked 15th in the world in terms of per-capita gun ownership."
