Jimi Hendrix Performs "Hey Joe"

Hats off to Janie Hendrix and Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. for publishing so many previously unreleased songs and live versions of familiar songs in recent years, all with the highest production quality, and thanks to the Monroe County Library System for bringing such music to me free.

Murder ballads like this were the target of Hurray for the Riff Raff, my favorite band with a transgender fiddler, with their song "The Body Electric" suggesting such songs were about "violence against women." They are, but they aren't. Cisgender Alynda Lee Segarra's moral grandstanding is far too simplistic.

It is true that Joe "shot his woman down" because "he caught her messin' round with another man," but did Joe act out of misogyny or jealousy? Murder is the wrong legal and moral choice, but it can be understandable. Less understandable is today's man's resignation to being cucked.

The VVitch: A New-England Folktale

The Witch (2015) is a fantastic little film that takes religion, the devil, and witchcraft seriously. Set in the decade after Plymouth Rock, it follows a paterfamilias who is too puritan for the Puritans, and gets himself and his family expelled from the plantation for pride. They set off to make it on their own in the wilderness and things go horrifyingly awry. In a lesser movie, the devout Christian father would have been the villain, but while he is severe, his sincere love for his family is touchingly evident, albeit somewhat misguided.

The XVIIth Centure dialogue is a pleasure to the ear, as is protagonist Anya Taylor-Joy to the eyes.

God, More Churchmen Like This, Please

"In 10 years we will all be Muslims because of our stupidity," saith Italian Archbishop Monsignor Carlo Liberati, pictured above, looking like a churchman should — Catholic leader says ‘everyone will be Muslim in 10 years’ because ‘weak’ church no longer appeals to the general public.

"Italy and Europe live in a pagan and atheist way, they make laws that go against God and they have traditions that are proper of paganism," said the monsignor. "All of this moral and religious decadence favours Islam." [Michel Houellebecq's Submission, anyone?]

"We help without delay those coming from outside and we forget many poor and old Italians who are eating from the trash. We need policies that take care of Italians first: our young people and the unemployed."

The Orwellian Nature of the Transgenderist Ideology

Consider our ruling class’s very latest demand: Americans must agree that someone with a penis can be a woman, while someone else with a vagina can be a man. Complying with such arbitrariness is beyond human capacity. In Orwell’s 1984, as noted, Big Brother’s agent demanded that Winston acknowledge seeing five fingers while he was holding up four. But that is small stuff next to what the U.S. ruling class is demanding of a free people. Because courts and agencies just impose their diktats, without bothering to try to persuade, millions of precisely the kind of citizens who prize stability have become willing to take a wrecking ball to what little remains of the American republic, not caring so much what happens next.
An excerpt from Angelo Codevilla's must-read article from the latest CRB issue, "explain[ing] how progressives have understood and conducted their cultural war from the days of Lenin, and how Gramsci’s own ambiguous writings illustrate the choices they face in conducting that war in our time and circumstances—especially with regard to political correctness in our present culture war" — The Rise of Political Correctness.

Visiting Stormfront and Finding Genocide (But Not That Kind)

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a member if the American Nazi Party. Neither am I a white nationalist. I am a race realist, and to borrow John Derbyshire's phrase, "anti-anti-white." Like the now-not-so-young Young Fogey, "I like being white."

I read American Renaissance and VDARE on a daily basis, but out of curiosity decided to go further afield to Stormfront, "a community of racial realists and idealists.... who support true diversity and a homeland for all peoples." Nothing at all wrong with that, but as a realist and non-idealist, I do not see a white homeland as practical. As a localist, I'd say let's start with neighborhoods; let Bensonhurst, Brooklyn be Bensonhurst, let Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn be Bed–Stuy, and let Forsyth County, Georgia be Forsyth County, sans government interventionist integration efforts. Let integration and segregation occur organically in diverse ways.

Stormfront is supposed to be neo-Nazi, right, so you'd expect to find stuff about gassing and extermination, wouldn't you? I found none of that. The closet thing I found was this discussion — Down's syndrome... The first commenter's suggestion that "eugenics is our chief concern" and "a well-bred society is a healthy society" is hardly outside the mainstream, as this recent report suggests — Down's Syndrome people risk 'extinction' at the hands of science, fear and ignorance. Outside the mainstream is the opinion "that abortion is a necessary evil in these instances [but] it is far from being something to be 'proud' of" and counter-cultural the opinion that "my faith strictly prohibits abortion, even in cases of rape and incest." Exterminating Down's babies is about as mainstream as it gets.

Stormfront offered me nothing that American Renaissance and VDARE do not provide, so I won't be going back, but not out of any malice. I wish them well, and certainly don't want to see them shut down and rounded up as would have likely happened under hitlery. And, I can envision future scenarios in which it would be good to have their boots on the ground.

*From this article, we learn of this "painting [which] hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York called The Adoration of the Christ Child. Created in the 16th century by a Flemish artist, what stands out in this sublime presentation of the Nativity is the detail of the characters standing around the crib. Two of them, an angel and a shepherd, appear to have Down’s Syndrome:"

This painting, which "helps illuminate the early modern approach to disability," is, I'd say, a worthy example of Stormfront's reminder that "Every month is White history month."

The Other Tragedies Ignored by Tavis Smiley and the Media

Noting "how swift justice is dispensed when the perpetrators, rather than the victims, are black," Mr, Smiley bemoans the lack of attention given to "the regular harassment and abuse that black teenagers and other black fellow citizens endure daily at the hands of white cops" — Tavis Smiley: The Other Tragedy of the Chicago Torture Video. Weird, because "the regular harassment and abuse that black teenagers and other black fellow citizens endure daily at the hands of white cops" seems to be all we've been reading about for years now, always without that back-story that this "regular harassment and abuse" is by no means regular but invariably tied to blacks "keepin' it real" by grabbing cops' guns and other means of resisting arrest.

"See Jordon, Tesfaye, Brittany and Tanishia," the professional black writes, being on intimate first-name basis with these youfs, which must be a black thing that we won't understand (to paraphrase the obnoxious t-shirt that was popular in my college days), because in all my reading of the so-called alt-right, I do not remember one person referring so affectionately to Dylann, except to note that the alternate spelling of his name was an indication of his the poor genetic stock that gave him issue.

Mr. Smiley is right that "we live in an era where the internet rules, and these kinds of salacious stories are the best kind of click-bait." How many of these "salacious stories" are not live-broadcast by the perps? Had there been no video, this story would have remained local and the local populace would have read that the "random" victim was "choked and repeatedly called the n-word... [and] [h]is alleged captors repeatedly reference[d] Donald Trump" — CBS Radio Deceptively Implies Chicago Torturers Were White Trump Supporters, Victim Was Black. How many other such atrocities have gone under-reported or white-washed of racial elements? The Knoxville Horror is but one such story:

So, in the absence of "salacious stories" that act as "click-bait" and with deliberate media obfuscation, we must really on statistics. "Single-offender interracial crimes of violence break five black on nonblack to one the other way," notes John Derbyshire, rephrasing for the innumerate among us, "Five out of six are black on nonblack" — John Derbyshire: Racial Gang Attacks—Why Won’t The MSM Tell Us The Numbers? So one-eighth of our population is responsible for five-sixths of the interracial violence. The Derb notes that this "was the case up to 2008—when the Department of Justice mysteriously stopped producing the relevant tables." [What was it again that happened in 2008?]

Black-on-white rape is particularly disproportional, with the opposite being statistically zero — The Truth of Interracial Rape in the United States. We learn from the late, great Lawrence Auster that "in 2005, 37,460 white females were sexually assaulted or raped by a black man, while between zero and ten black females were sexually assaulted or raped by a white man," meaning "that every day in the United States, over one hundred white women are raped or sexually assaulted by a black man."

These 100 black-on-white rapes a day are not live-broadcast and only make the local news, and if so, are de-racialized. What say you, Mr. Smiley, of these other tragedies? What say you, SJWs, about this very real rape-culture? Or is black-on-white rape a "revolutionary act" as Eldridge Cleaver claimed it was? Here is but one scene from what is either rape-culture or revolutionary-culture on our affirmative-action, athletic-scholarship college campuses — Black Football Player Rapes White Victim, Tells Her “That’s For 400 Years Of Slavery, You B****”.

Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever... Segregation Again?

"One of the most painful realizations for the Baby Boomer generation is the failure of the Civil Rights Movement," writes Vox Populi, "and the increasing evidence that those evil, very bad, horrible segregationists were right all along" — A case for segregation. He notes:
If 250 years does not suffice to make a single nation out of two very different peoples, then it should be manifestly apparent that no amount of time is ever going to be enough.... As Big Gay Steve has observed, the amount of money that has been spent unsuccessfully trying to turn a mostly unwilling nation of Black Americans into ersatz White Americans would have permitted humanity to have established colonies on Mars. Forget all the victims of all the crimes over the years, and ignore bloodshed of the inevitable wars in the years to come, perhaps the greatest sin of the Civil Rights debacle of the last 50 years is the opportunity cost.
On that last point, White America should be let known how much it spent in welfare payments, Section 8 housing EBT cards, futile schooling, etc. on these four Chicongolese:

Aren't we supposed to be having a "conversation" about Race? If so, let's have an open one. Black separatism, in its most vanilla form, "hold[s] that black people would be better served by schools and businesses exclusively for black people, and by local black politicians and police," while the Nation of Islam "calls for several independent black states on American soil." "Negrification" is a term segregationists used that we are supposed to be horrified by, but does it not accurately describe what has happened to mainstream culture in the last fifty years in terms in everything from marriage patterns to music?

This atrocity forced me to have John Derbyshire's "The Talk: Nonblack Version" with my kids, at least with the teen and tween, not yet the infant. It is my fatherly duty to give my kids the wits to protect themselves from statistical threats, wits the innocent developmentally disabled victim appears to have sadly lacked, having trusted his torturers and followed them home. Some questions:

Is it wrong for me to have this talk but right for black parents to allegedly have their Talk?

Is it wrong to want to see a Doc Martin boot wipe the smug looks off those males' mugshots?

Run the "reverse the races" thought experiment, and what would be the national reaction?

Welcome news from my stomping ground of fourteen tears that "reports of Korea’s self-abolition have been exaggerated" — Gangnam and Minjok. Writes Jeremy Cooper:
So although South Korea will not maintain its complete “racial purity” indefinitely into the future, it is not facing the “Great Replacement” or wholesale dispossession taking place in the West. Nor does South Korea have to contend with huge settlements of hostile populations which can’t or won’t integrate into First World societies. The half-ethnic Koreans of the future will have at least one Korean parent, they will come from a variety of different backgrounds; most will have two Asian parents and be physically indistinguishable from the rest of society. Generally, Western-style identity politics usually results when there are groups of people that have the numbers to separate themselves from the larger society and are clearly physically distinct from the majority population.

      Því heit eg á þig,

      Gæt þú, mildingur, mín,

      Send þú, meyjar mögur,

      In thy still small voice
      Mayest thou show grace.
      As I call on thee,
      Thou my creator.
      I am thy servant,
      Thou art my true Lord.

      God, I call on thee;
      For thee to heal me.
      Bid me, prince of peace,

      Ever I need thee,
      Generous and great,
      O’er all human woe,
      City of thy heart.

      Guard me, my savior.
      Ever I need thee,
      Through ev’ry moment
      In this world so wide.
      Virgin–born, send me
      Noble motives now.
      Aid cometh from thee,
      To my deepest heart.

Bulverism, Cant, Obfuscatory Nonsense & "Point and Shriek"

Librul thought, or the attempt thereat, has been the topic of several right-minded thinkers in recent days.

Steve Sailer, quoting Wikipedia, defines a term "coined by C. S. Lewis to poke fun at a very serious error in thinking" that "assumes a speaker’s argument is invalid or false and then explains why the speaker came to make that mistake, attacking the speaker or the speaker’s motive" — Bulverism. A Sailerian example:
I get this all the time: What kind of horrible character flaw must have motivated me to have learned so many quantitative facts and have thought so logically about the topic that everybody agrees is important: diversity?
John Derbyshire, quoting Samuel Johnson's counsel to "clear your mind of cant," defines that term from Dr. Johnson's Dictionary of 1766 as the "whining pretension to goodness, in formal and affected terms" and from Dictionary.com as "insincere, especially conventional expressions of enthusiasm for high ideals, goodness, or piety" — A Whining Pretension to Goodness. The Derb gives some examples:
Practically anything you read or hear about racism, sexism, and homophobia is cant. The most punctilious anti-racists flee like rats from black neighborhoods; the dearth of female mathematicians, in an age when women form an actual majority of college students, is widely understood to be a matter of female preferences, not discrimination; and sensible parents do not leave their kids alone with sexually eccentric adults. Yet the cant goes on.
Jim Goad gives an example of "the sort of logic-defying, obfuscatory nonsense that has been a hallmark of their flailing attempts at discourse for generations now," in this case a recent "argument" that "since there’s no such thing as 'white people,' there could not possibly be anything such as 'white genocide'" — Laughing About White Genocide. The "obfuscatory nonsense" gets even worse:
Modern leftists—since they’re brainwashed zombies who’d rather eat a bullet than possibly admit that they’re wrong—dismiss all talk of “white genocide” as paranoid conspiracy-mongering by “racists,” an odious breed of exclusively white people who obviously need to be exterminated by all means necessary. While openly applauding the notion that whites are a “dying breed,” they will gaslight the living hell out of anyone who dares to notice that whites are a dying breed.
James Delingpole reminds us, among many other things, that "so much of the left-liberal ‘argument’ has to do with raw emotion rather than logic" — Rules for Righties — a War-Winning Manifesto for 2017. He continues explaining what boils down to a debased form of Bulverism:
[T]hey’ll almost never engage with us on detail, preferring simply to use what Vox Day calls “point and shriek” tactics, or to try to belittle and demean us with emotive (but meaningless) pejoratives like “racist”, “homophobe”, “misogynist”, “Islamophobe”, “climate change denier.”
Knowing how the enemy thinks, or attempts to think, is the first step in defeating it. But let us close with Mr. Delingpole's reminder to be charitable:
People on the liberal-left are just like us, really, only slightly less evolved. Their brains are stuck in that stage of evolution just before ours – the hunter-gatherer stage when we were all roaming the plains and were programmed to respond in the most basic way to our most primal instincts.

One of my favorite celestial bodies, "Ceres was the first asteroid ever discovered, in 1801, and [is] still the largest body in the asteroid belt" — Today in science: Discovery of Ceres. She was discovered by "Italian priest, mathematician and astronomer Giuseppe Piazzi;" Daniela Breitman continues the story:
The story of the discovery of Ceres goes back to German astronomer Johannes Kepler and to Tycho Brahe, a Danish nobleman and inveterate night sky observer, in the 1500s. When Kepler obtained Tycho’s astronomical data, he searched it for the explanation behind the motion of the planets, in particular Mars’ retrograde motion. This work led Kepler to what is one of his most praised discoveries, what we today know as Kepler’s three laws of planetary motion.

However, Kepler’s analysis also led him to discover something else. He noticed an unusually large empty area between the orbits of the planets Mars and Jupiter. This gap, combined with Kepler’s realization of the regularity of the planets’ orbits, provoked Kepler to assert there must be something in the gap. He thought it might be an undiscovered planet and famously wrote:

Between Jupiter and Mars, I place a planet.

Kepler wasn’t the only one to notice this strange gap. At the beginning of the 18th century, Titius, a Prussian astronomer, stated a relationship between the planet’s orbital distances from the sun, later popularized by German astronomer Johann Bode, today called the Titius-Bode Law. Briefly … begin with a 0, and then 3, and then double each subsequent number. If you do that, you get a series: 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, etc. Then add 4 and divide by 10, and you get (more or less) the distances in astronomical units (AU) to the major planets of our solar system: 0.4, 0.7, 1.0, 1.6, 2.8, 5.2, and so on. But notice that 2.8 AU. It corresponds to the distance of the space between Mars and Jupiter.

But, still, nobody thought much about a possible planet between Mars and Jupiter until 1781, when William Herschel accidentally discovered a new planet – the first one found since humans began gazing at the sky – which we now call Uranus. Its distance from the sun was close to the one predicted by Titius-Bode.

And so the search was on! By the end of the 18th century, a group of astronomers who called themselves the Celestial Police took on the task of finding out what lay in the gap between Mars and Jupiter.

Giuseppe Piazzi was supposed to be one of the members, but before he received his invitation, he had already discovered Ceres in early 1801. At first, he thought the small spot he was seeing was just a dim star not included in his chart. On the next day, however, Piazzi saw that it had moved and therefore could not be a star. Illness and unfavorable weather prevented Piazzi from observing his new finding for a few nights. But by January 24, 1801 – by tracking its motion in front of the stars and thereby calculating its distance – he was certain the object was a member of our own solar system.

It was, of course, hailed as the missing planet! Piazzi named it Ceres after the Roman goddess of agriculture, fertility and harvest. Soon, though, other astronomers began finding similar bodies at Ceres’ approximate distance from the sun. German physician and astronomer Heinrich Olbers discovered the asteroid Pallas in 1802 and Vesta in 1807.

The Titius-Bode Law was disproved in 1846 with the discovery of Neptune, whose distance is much closer than predicted by this law. Today, astronomers still can’t explain why it seemed to work at first; most regard it as a coincidence.
